Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is illegal. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that features numerous conveniences aside from the gambling den, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight table games.
