Cambodia Gambling Dens
March 30th, 2022 by Julio

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino betting is against the law. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that highlights a number of conveniences on top of the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight tables.
